Approximately 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Officers report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The substance had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then located numerous other smeared vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Police state initial examinations show the fluid was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; investigators are not yet cognizant of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they added.
Municipal representatives stated they were working "to solve the case" and have requested to the residents for details.
A senior official said the vandalism rendered him stunned and had to be addressed quickly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on social media, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a shooter targeting residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
