Congress Approves Measure to Disclose Jeffrey Epstein Records

The Senate on Tuesday quickly approved to legislation that will require the publication of official records related to the late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, after a near-unanimous vote in the House of Representatives and a reversal by the president and his Republican allies. The administration relented after an extended period of trying to delay the joint action involving a scandal that has dogged the president since his comeback to the White House.

Unanimous Passage in Congress

The Senate acted by consensus, which needs acceptance from each senator but avoids a recorded vote, expediting the process. Earlier that day, the House passed by a huge margin the bill on a 427-1 tally.

“The American people have endured sufficient delay. Jeffrey Epstein’s victims have suffered long enough,” the Senate Democratic leader stated in a floor speech on Tuesday, before requesting the Senate to approve it without opposition. “Let the truth come out. Ensure full disclosure.”

Future Action

The bill next goes to Trump for his approval. Trump signaled on Monday that he would approve the bill.

Even though Trump has for an extended period dismissed the uproar over the official management of the investigation as a “false narrative”, he voiced approval for the measure over the weekend, and stated he would approve it if it comes to him.

Support and Opposition

Democrats, along with those affected and their advocates who were seated in a viewing area, cheered after the bill was enacted. The only opposition came from a Louisiana Republican, who stated he was concerned the measure would disclose identifying details of witnesses, those under scrutiny and others implicated in the investigation.
