The Iconic Puzzle Game Wouldn't Triumph at This Gaming Ceremony — Another Award Type May Address This Issue

Each time a prominent prize-giving event nears, one notices an outcry for the addition fresh award types to acknowledge unsung work and satisfy the passions of followers with niche passions.

My colleague made the case for a horror game category. That would be fantastic. The same goes for board games, this being someone's personal cause. But they will have to forgive me for pushing forward because like all blinkered fanatics, I possess a compelling case supporting my request is the most urgent and significant. The demand is this: We need an award type for logic-based games.

Organizing Gaming Categories

Classifying creative works isn't exact; it’s very subjective, and it will always generate discussions concluding with vague boundaries. It's understandable that film award organizations don’t do it. Yet it remains a necessary evil within the realm of gaming, that demonstrate such variety they hardly constitute a single creative category.

For the full spectrum of achievement in video games to receive acknowledgment, and for games of all stripes to have a chance for representation, specific award classifications remain vital.

Present Award Structure

Leading game ceremonies presently include genre categories for Action, Adventure-action titles, Role-Playing, Combat games, Simulation and strategy titles, plus athletic and racing experiences. Collectively, these award types successfully include a lot of ground, making space possible for most games within them.

This doesn't apply to brain-teasing titles. There’s simply nowhere to put them. Consider three of recent excellent titles, showing diverse approaches: building puzzles in a particular game, intense tile-matching in a different title, engaging interpersonal challenges in another game. Where could they possibly go within current classifications? Unfortunately, nowhere.

Acknowledgment Issues

Many instances occur outstanding logic titles published annually without proper recognition in entertainment awards, if they accidentally match award groups including Handheld titles, Virtual reality experiences, or the intensely contested small studio competitions.

  • A renowned logic title wasn’t nominated in any category that year
  • Another imaginative release received no nominations during that ceremony
  • Well-received sorting experience was overlooked recently
  • Only a few brain-teasers managed to sneak into small studio or handheld classifications

Importance of Logic Titles

Frequently they represent compact experiences, but the art of the puzzle game is of massive significance. Iconic mobile puzzle games stand as the most-played games globally and have been for over a decade.

The legendary block-stacking game challenges famous sandbox experiences for the title of highest-selling title ever; it additionally competes as greatest title ever. Puzzle games are foundational to the art of video games, and engaging with almost every other genre.

The Solution and Justification

Puzzle games wouldn’t have such difficulty. It would be easy to populate a field of five engaging, different, qualified experiences annually without trouble — or rather, with difficulty, because you’d have to leave numerous deserving experiences.

And to reiterate, these represent titles lacking appropriate categories in important events. Puzzle game makers are working at the hard edge of video game design, developing some of the purest expressions of the video game form. Just like movie stunt professionals, they deserve recognition. Don't make them wait 35 years.
